Longhorns' OL Appears on Preseason Watch List
USA TODAY Sports

For the first time in his collegiate career, Texas Longhorn junior offensive lineman Jake Majors was named to a preseason watch list for an annually presented award that recognizes the most outstanding and accomplished center in college football - the Rimington Trophy watch list.

The Rimington Trophy honors the top center in college football, and the fact that this year marks the first time that Majors has appeared on the preseason watch list for this award makes his recognition that much more memorable.

Majors is entering his fourth year with the Horns and has made 28 game appearances, including 27 consecutive starts.

Last season in 2022, Texas averaged 34.5 points per game, which was ranked at the No. 17 highest scoring average among Power 5 programs, and 429.5 yards per game, ranked at the No. 23 highest mark among Power 5 teams.

Majors was a huge part of the Longhorns' success on offense, especially after blocking for former Texas star running back Bijan Robinson who had a tremendous 2022 season with the Longhorns (1,580 total yards on 258 carries and 18 touchdowns) and is now pursuing his professional football career on the Atlanta Falcons.

The winner of the award is chosen by the Rimington Trophy Committee that utilizes the Walter Camp Foundation, Sporting News and Football Writers Association of America All-America teams.

The Rimington Trophy recipient will be the center with the most first-team votes on the three All-America teams.
