Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper declared for the 2024 NFL Draft and is projected to be a first-round pick.

Named an All-American on Monday, Cooper is the top-ranked linebacker currently entered in the draft by Field Level Media and Pro Football Focus.

He will not play in the Texas Bowl against Oklahoma State.

"Like many in my position, my goal has always been to achieve the professional level of football," Cooper said in a social media post. "I've spent much of my college career perfecting my craft and bettering myself in every way possible to be prepared for the opportunity to perform in the NFL. While I always have room to grow, I feel prepared to enter this next season of life."

He had 8.0 sacks and 17 tackles for loss in 2023. He also led the team with 84 tackles and was named first-team All-SEC.
