Kool-Aid McKinstry, Dallas Turner Named Lott Trophy Semifinalists

More Alabama football players are gaining national recognition this week.

Alabama defensive back Kool-Aid McKinstry and outside linebacker Dallas Turner were named semifinalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy as announced by the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation Friday morning. 

The Lott trophy goes each year to the student-athlete who best exhibits the characteristics of Ronnie Lott by making an impact on and off the field. McKinstry and Turner are two of the nine semifinalists. The finalists will be invited to the award show on Dec. 10 in California when the winner will be announced. 

McKinstry has been a lockdown corner for the Crimson Tide this season. He has 21 tackles with five pass break-ups and also serves as Alabama's punt returner. 

Turner is first on the team and second in the SEC with seven sacks. He has 38 total tackles with 10.5 tackles for loss. 

Alabama is the only school with multiple semifinalists. 

If Turner or McKinstry win this year, they will join the two previous Lott Trophy winners in program history, first with DeMeco Ryans in 2005 and Will Anderson Jr. in 2022.
