Kirk Herbstreit was already one of the voices of the sport. His appearances on ESPN's College GameDay were consistent and he always followed that up by calling one of the biggest games of the night with his partner, Chris Fowler.
When it comes to college football, few not named Keith Jackson, Verne Lundquist or Brent Musburger have made a bigger impact. That's what made the 2022 football season so impressive from Herbstreit, though. Not only did he continue on as the voice of college football, but he also called 15 NFL games for Amazon alongside fellow broadcasting legend Al Michaels.
So, for that keeping track, Herbstreit has locked down college football and he's now one of the voices of the NFL. Throw in pregame shows and other appearances, and it stands to reason that Herbstreit is one of the busiest people in all of sports broadcasting.
According to Front Office Sports, his workload since September has looked a bit like this:
In 4 months, @KirkHerbstreit has worked:

▪️ 16 shows
▪️ 18 CFB games for ESPN
▪️ 15 NFL games for Amazon
▪️ In 36 different cities pic.twitter.com/FfZNrBvGSx
It will be interesting to see how long Herbstreit can keep us this kind of workload, but he's undoubtedly creating quite the elite legacy for himself as a broadcaster and overall "football guy".
