The University of Georgia doesn't historically do a lot of maneuvering with their cornerbacks under the Kirby Smart-led defense for the Bulldogs. The left corner is the left corner, the right corner is the right corner, and usually they aren't rotated. Once they win their job, they stay at that job until beaten out.
That was the case for the majority of Kamari Lassiter's defensive career. He has been one of the two featured cornerbacks in Athens for the last two seasons, and arguably one of the best true cover cornerbacks in college football over the last 24 months.
Now, as Lassiter prepares to meet with north of a dozen NFL organizations here in Indianapolis, a potential position change could be on the horizon. Lassiter says that the majority of the teams he has spoken to have mentioned playing nickel cornerback on the next level.
Georgia fans might remember, one of the biggest coaching adjustments of the season for the 2023 Georgia Bulldogs was actually moving Lassiter into the slot to cover Missouri Luther Burden. Burden was one of the most prolific receivers in all of college football and he was held to one reception when being covered by Lassiter on the contest. It's a game film that Lassiter says multiple NFL teams have referenced when talking to him here in Indianapolis.
