Johnny Manziel's new off-field venture is the most Johnny Manziel thing ever

If you ever wanted to party at a nightclub owned by Johnny Manziel, you're in luck.

In perhaps the most predictable news ever, the former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL dud is now part owner of a sports bar and nightclub that will soon open in his old stomping grounds in the Northgate District near the Texas A&M campus.

While some might envision a typical college-type establishment, "Manziel's Money Bar" is expected to deliver a more upscale environment.

"We use pretty state-of-the-art stuff," Co-owner and former A&M student J.D. Ybanez told Alex Miller of the Bryan College Station Eagle. "It's going to be super high-tech and nice with some design aspects that are different than anything you'll see in College Station."

Investing in a nightclub and bar might not seem like the best move for a guy who has openly admitted to dealing with alcohol and substance abuse issues.

In 2018, following a flurry of off-the-field incidents and a busted pro career, Manziel revealed he'd be diagnosed with bipolar disorder along with battling addiction. Manziel said the pressures and expectations of the NFL caused him to "self-medicate," but he's since started taking medication and stopped drinking.

A first-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2014, Manziel played only 14 games over two forgettable NFL seasons, throwing for 1,675 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. While his name is synonymous with bust in NFL circles, he's still playing the game he loves. Manziel suited up for the first two seasons of the seven-on-seven Fan-Controlled Football League and may return in the fall.

As far as his new business venture goes, it could be a sparkling success or a downright disaster. Only time will tell.
