Iowa head coach reacts to Kadyn Proctor re-entering the transfer portal
Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz shared his reaction to the news of former five-star offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor re-entering the NCAA transfer portal on Tuesday.

“It is unfortunate that Kadyn has informed us of his intentions to leave our program today,” Ferentz said in a statement to ESPN. “We wish him well in his future.”

Proctor began his college career at Alabama where he started 13 games as a true freshman last season before transferring to Iowa following the retirement of head coach Nick Saban. During his single season, Proctor was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team as he helped the Crimson Tide win the SEC championship and reach the College Football Playoff.

The transfer portal will open on April 16 which is when Proctor will re-enter his name but he also confirmed several reports on social media that he will be returning to the Crimson Tide this fall.

According to a recent ruling, the NCAA will allow multi-time transfers to play immediately meaning Proctor can re-take his starting role on the offensive line this fall.
