Hue Jackson is no longer the head football coach at Grambling State University, according to multiple sources. Jackson served as head coach for two seasons, finishing 8-14. Grambling State University hired Hue Jackson as its 14th head coach on Dec. 10, 2021, after dismissing 2016 Celebration Bowl-winning head coach Broderick Fobbs.

Grambling's leaders hoped Jackson would restore the football program to prominence with his NFL and Power 5 background. At USC, he successfully recruited and groomed two Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks, Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart.

Jackson had a couple of glaring miscues as the head coach.  The first problem was when he hired former Baylor's embattled head coach Art Briles as his offensive coordinator.   Later, he posed on expensive cars with student-athletes during the recruiting period. Finally, losing two Bayou Classics was more than what the Tiger Nation expected from Jackson.

The offense needed more consistency during his tenure, and fan frustration grew with Jackson at the helm. Tensions came to a boiling point after losing the 50th Annual Bayou Classic to Southern University on Saturday. The Tigers fell, 27-22, in the legendary event as the Jaguars won with interim head coach Terrance Graves.

Grambling officials are expected to release an official statement later today.
