Grambling pulls plug on Art Briles hiring
MCT

Grambling apparently has put the kibosh on the Art Briles hiring.

Briles was hired on Thursday Grambling’s offensive coordinator. However, the hiring was met with pushback, and it led to the coach’s resignation on Monday.

Head coach Hue Jackson was seemingly behind the hiring of the disgraced former Baylor coach. But then others spoke out against the hiring, including former Grambling quarterback Doug Williams. Williams went as far as to say he would stop supporting the program with Briles on the staff. The pressure may have led to the school’s changed stance.

Briles was the head coach at Baylor from 2008-2015. Though he had great success on the field, he had next to no standards for the behavior and quality of his players off the field. He presided over the team when the football program was accused of multiple sexual assaults. He was fired in 2016 as a result of the scandal.

Briles, 66, has proven himself to be nearly unhireable by any program of note.
