Georgia Bulldogs Land Promising Young Quarterback From The Transfer Portal
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Georgia Bulldogs never seem to be lacking in talent. However, this offseason, the team has seen a lot of players leave via the transfer portal. Now that the portal has been open for a while, we are starting to see teams gain back some talent. The Bulldogs landed former UNLV quarterback Jayden Maiava on Monday.

Georgia Bulldogs Land QB Jayden Maiava

Maiava had a great season for UNLV. He threw for 3,085 yards and 17 touchdowns earning him the honor of Mountain West Freshman of the Year. He also ran for 277 yards and three touchdowns. Carson Beck is returning for another season but Georgia lost some of their quarterback depth this offseason. Maiava comes in with a lot of potential and could sit this year and take the starting role in 2025 and beyond.

Great Pickup For Georgia

Brock Vandagriff left in the transfer portal and landed with Kentucky. Top prospect Dylan Raiola flipped his commitment to Nebraska. While getting Beck for another season is great, the quarterback position is the most important in football. Injuries happen and teams need a solid backup waiting in the wings. Maiava brings that to the program. He has shown he can play well even if it was in the Mountain West.

Can the Georiga Bulldogs get back to the College Football Playoff in 2024? After a dominating victory in their bowl game, they are hoping to carry that momentum into next season.
