Former Wisconsin Football Quarterback Re-Enters Transfer Portal

During the 2023 season, Hill started nine games at quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes under head coach Kirk Ferentz, guiding the team to a 6-3 record. However, his completion rate stood at a meager 48.6%, with 1,152 passing yards, five touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Hill initially joined the Badgers as a four-star recruit in the class of 2021, according to 247Sports, but entered the transfer portal shortly after Paul Chryst’s dismissal. After spending two years with the Wisconsin football program, Hill transferred to Iowa in search of a fresh start. 

After committing to Iowa for the 2023 season, Hill served as the backup until starting quarterback Cade McNamara sustained a leg injury early in the season. Hill was thrust into the QB1 role and surprised many by leading the team to a 6-1 record in his first seven games, including a 15-6 win over the Wisconsin football team at Camp Randall Stadium. 

Despite Iowa’s pronounced offensive struggles under Brian Ferentz, Hill fulfilled his role and kept the Hawkeyes heads above water behind their defensive-minded approach. Hill made it to the Big Ten title game before falling to the eventual national champion Michigan Wolverines 26-0. 

Expected to resume his backup role in 2024 with McNamara returning for his final collegiate season, the former Wisconsin football signal caller now re-enters the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.
