Former Rebel Oher Cites Biggest Problem With 'Blind Side'

Former Ole Miss Rebels offensive lineman Michael Oher recently took the sports world by storm when he filed a lawsuit against his supposed adopted family, the Tuohys, claiming that they "tricked" him into signing a document that made them his conservators. 

Oher claims that the family received $300 million dollars for 'The Blind Side' movie, while the former Rebel earned nothing.

Tragically, a movie that has inspired millions of people is now shrouded by this apparent act of greed, but did the Oscar-winning film even tell all of Oher's story?

In a recent interview with Salon, Oher opened up about how 'The Blind Side' does not accurately depict the situation he was in at the time and explained what the film got wrong.

"From the time I was three years old to 18, that's when the movie really started to portray my life," Oher said during the interview. "I had ambition, very grateful for the platform. It's still inspiring and motivating people across this world, so I'm grateful for that. 

"But at the end of the day, I had drive, I had the ability to want to succeed and be something, and ['The Blind Side'] didn't show the work ethic that I put in to get to that point. You have to understand, that came out in 2009, so when I moved in with the family, I was an All-American football player already."

Oher explained that despite facing multiple hardships growing up, his desire to improve his situation came long before he met the Tuohys.

"I was putting it in my mind that I was going to be something from 11 years old when I started this journey," Oher said. "I wanted to be successful. It didn't have to be football, it didn't have to be sports. I was going to be a positive influence on society, if I had to have three, four jobs. I was going to be working. I was going to be doing something that can give me longevity, can give a peace of mind, can give me comfort."
