Former Michigan Football Star Finds A New NFL Home

Taco Charlton was a hot commodity when he first entered the NFL draft.

The Dallas Cowboys selected Charlton with the 28th pick during the 2017 draft, but due to injuries and performance, Charlton never truly lived up to his first-round hype. 

Charlton has had stints with the Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Chicago Bears, but nothing ever materialized with those teams. 

It was announced on Tuesday, Charlton found a new home. 

The San Francisco 49ers signed the former Ohio native to a one-year deal. Charlton joins Ambry Thomas and Ronnie Bell as former Michigan players on the 49ers. 

Throughout Charlton's six-year NFL career, he has appeared in 60 games (13 starts) and registered 95 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, three passes defended, one fumble recovery, and four forced fumbles. He has also appeared in three postseason contests and added one tackle.

Charlton played at Michigan from 2013-2016. He appeared in 46 games and had 15 starts at Edge. He was an All-Big Ten First-Team selection in '16. 

During his playing time with the Wolverines, he registered 94 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, and 19 sacks.
