In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Chip Lindsey is a step up at OC for UNC.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

I like Phil Longo, I like him a lot. And he’s off to Wisconsin to open up that offense. Lindsey arrives with a pedigree of experience as an analyst, coordinator, and head coach but none of his offenses popped to me. Auburn was average, his Troy teams were meh and I wasn’t thrilled with UCF this past season. This hire doesn’t move me a ton.

2. Colorado’s staff isn’t as elite as expected.

Farrell’s take: FACT

I expected more. I expected whoever hired Deion Sanders would assure he brought in a ton of Power Five experience with him. That’s not the case — at all. Charles Kelly and Tim Brewster are known but the rest of the staff doesn’t have a ton of experience and it surprises me. That doesn’t mean these aren’t good coaches but they are certainly untested at this level.

3. Jim Leonhard is all class.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Wisconsin screwed him by getting rid of Paul Chryst, allowing him to think he would be the next coach if he had success as an interim, and then hiring Luke Fickell instead. Now Leonhard is still coaching his Badgers in the bowl game while Fickell will roam the sidelines. I would have simply told my alma mater to take a hike and find a new job. He’ll land on his feet for sure but he should be looking for jobs instead of remaining loyal to those who passed him over.
