Ex-Penn State football defender enters the transfer portal

The Penn State football team has seen players leave and seek playing time elsewhere over the years. Most times, that leads to success and finding a home, where others can develop for a few years to find a larger opportunity down the road. That’s the case for former Nittany Lion Joseph Appiah Darkwa, who left Penn State to play at Temple over the past few seasons. Now, he will seek a new opportunity, as he has re-entered the transfer portal.

Joseph Appiah Darkwa was part of the 2019 recruiting class for the Penn State football team. From North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, Darkwa was rated as the No. 2 prospect from Germany coming out of high school. He spent 2019 developing his game when he redshirted at Penn State.

Then, during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, he didn’t see any game action with the Nittany Lions. So ahead of the 2022 season, he entered the transfer portal and found a new home not too far away at Temple. Darkwa took advantage of his opportunities at Temple. In two seasons he accounted for 8 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack.

On Friday, Darkwa announced on social media that he entered the transfer portal to search for his third college.
