Deion Sanders Reveals Why He Doesn’t Do In-Home Recruiting Visits For The Colorado Buffaloes
Christopher Creveling-USA TODAY Sports

Deion Sanders does things differently for the Colorado Buffaloes. His coaching style and the way he recruits are going against the grain. It has brought criticism from some people on his techniques, especially his lack of in-home recruiting visits. This is a tactic many coaches use to make a more personal connection with the players and their families. Sanders doesn’t do this and revealed why during spring press conferences.

Colorado Buffaloes Deion Sanders On In-Home Recruiting

Sanders doesn’t think families want him to come to their homes. They want to come and see where Coach Prime lives. Many parents might have idolized Sanders growing up when he played for the Dallas Cowboys or Atlanta Falcons. Getting invited to his home would have way more of an impact on those people. It isn’t surprising to see the Buffaloes head coach do something different. He has been making waves in the college football world and doing things his own way.

Is It Working?

The jury is still out. Colorado only has eight recruits in their 2024 class. While one of them is a five-star and three are four-star, that isn’t a lot of talent to replenish the program. However, the new college football landscape puts less emphasis on recruiting classes. Deion Sanders was very active in the transfer portal. He landed one of the top classes and could decide to go that route every single year rather than recruit high schoolers.

Will his strategy work? This season is a big one for the Colorado Buffaloes. If they don’t show improvement, the criticism of Sanders’ tactics will likely increase.
