Clemson Tigers star running back, Will Shipley, has decided to forgo his remaining college eligibility and make the leap into the NFL draft.

Shipley, a 5-foot-11, 210-pound junior hailing from Weddington, North Carolina, made his announcement via social media on Wednesday night. In 2022, he achieved the remarkable feat of being the sole player selected to the all-Atlantic Coast Conference first team in three categories: runner, all-purpose player, and specialist.

Expressing his gratitude for the past three years, Shipley conveyed his excitement about what the future holds in a statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I am grateful for the last three years and am excited to see what the future holds.”

During his time at Clemson, Shipley accumulated impressive statistics, amassing 2,747 rushing yards and scoring 31 touchdowns on the ground. Additionally, he showcased his versatility with 85 career receptions and two receiving touchdowns.

Shipley’s final season at Clemson was marked by a strong performance, as he rushed for 827 yards and recorded five touchdowns, helping the team secure victories in its last five games and finishing the season with a 9-4 record.

In a display of his commitment to the team, Shipley chose to participate in Clemson’s 38-35 Gator Bowl triumph over Kentucky just last week. However, there was a moment of concern when he was carted off the field after a dramatic stumble and somersault during a 60-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter. Fortunately, subsequent MRI scans revealed no structural damage to his left leg.

With his collegiate career behind him, Will Shipley now sets his sights on the NFL, where he is poised to make a significant impact with his exceptional skills and versatility as a player.
