Bulldogs host $13.8 million 4-star QB transfer for 2025 competition

The 2024 spring transfer portal doesn't have the same level of playmakers as the fall did, but that doesn't mean game-changing talents won't be on the move. On Tuesday, one of the top 2023 quarterback recruits visited the Georgia Bulldogs. Former Arizona State QB Jaden Rashada went to Athens to see if he could be the Bulldogs' starter in 2025.

The Bulldogs have been on the hunt for a fourth scholarship quarterback, and head coach Kirby Smart wisely tabbed Rashada as an impact transfer candidate. The former 4-star dual-threat QB ranked in the top six passers on 247Sports last year.

Rashada played in three games last fall before a thumb injury ended his season prematurely. He completed only 53.7% of passes for 485 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. He rushed for 23 yards on 14 carries.

He made waves as a former Florida Gators commit who was set to earn almost $14 million in NIL from The Gator Collective. However, the third-party firm failed to meet the financial promise, and Rashada quickly opted to attend Arizona State instead. Despite the Sun Devils' need for a QB in 2024 and boasting a promising quarterback developer in head coach Kenny Dillingham, Rashada is on the move again.

The Bulldogs can't offer Rashada the starting job in 2024 or possibly, beyond. Carson Beck is arguably the best QB in the nation entering next year but will graduate after 2024. If he commits, Rashada will compete with Gunner Stockton and Ryan Puglisi to be a backup right away.

The 6'4", 185-pounder wasn't heavily recruited by Georgia when he was a high school athlete. Georgia was trying to land Arch Manning instead, and whiffing on the 5-star left the Bulldogs a man down. However, the Bulldogs will make a strong pitch to Rashada if he's not hellbent on starting right away.

The redshirt freshman is a pocket passer who more resembles Beck than Stockton, so offensive coordinator Mike Bobo can choose the style of offense he prefers if the former comes to town. Rashada has a good arm but his lower body and accuracy aren't always in tune. This isn't an abnormal problem for young QBs.

This has the potential to be an impact signing, though. Rashada's numbers aside, his physical talent was undeniable in the small sample we saw. It'd be an impressive transfer up for him, and the Bulldogs might have themselves a steal.
