Bo Nix elaborates on his Senior Bowl experience, why he decided to play in the game

Bo Nix has been enjoying his time at the Reese’s Senior Bowl as he prepares for the 2024 NFL Draft.

The former Oregon Ducks and Auburn Tigers was present at practice all week, and decided to play in the game, where he threw a touchdown pass for his team. Speaking with NFL Network after leaving the field, Nix explained what the whole ordeal has been like for him.

“It’s been awesome,” Nix said. “The competition has been great. It’s been fun to compete against these guys in practice, and now in the game. It’s been great to be coached by NFL guys, and also fun to be around (Notre Dame quarterback) Sam [Hartman] and (Tulane quarterback) Michael [Pratt] all week, and the rest of the quarterbacks on the other team.

“You know, a lot of interviews, a lot of time to show what you’ve got and be your authentic self.”

Sometimes, quarterbacks especially, you’ll see a signal-caller practice all week, but decide not to play in the game. Nix never thought about doing that, as the Reese’s Senior Bowl represents something special to him, but he understands where guys who do that are coming from.

“I just felt like going through this whole week, you know with some guys dropping out, it was right to go out there and play,” Nix added. “I understand everybody’s got a different situation, but just to be in the home state, and the City of Mobile, they do a really good job of putting on the event. I thought it was special to play for them.”

Of course, Nix spent the first part of his collegiate career with the Auburn Tigers, so returning to his home state of Alabama is special for him. Not every quarterback has that motivation.

Ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, Nix is being projected to go either in the first or second round. He flourished during his time with Oregon, endearing himself to teams as he put together a record-breaking season in 2023.

As a senior this past year, Nix completed 77.4 percent of his passes. He threw for 4,508 yards and 45 touchdowns, with only three interceptions. Nix also rushed for 234 yards and six scores, while being named a Heisman finalist.

His time at the Senior Bowl may be done, but Bo Nix certainly helped his draft stock over the last week, as he moves forward in the process ahead of April.
