ASU quarterback Jaden Rashada to enter transfer portal

Arizona State freshman quarterback Jaden Rashada will enter the transfer portal, according to Pete Nakos of On3Sports.

Rashada has four years of eligibility remaining after injuries deterred a potential full starting season at quarterback as a true freshman.

Just one month ago, it was reported that Rashada would miss ASU Spring Ball following a thumb surgery on his throwing hand. Now, the 20-year-old will find a new home after a short-lived Sun Devil career.

In three total starts as a true freshman, Rashada threw for 485 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions. He impressed right away during his first-ever collegiate start.

While losing the former four-star recruit is devastating for Arizona State, their plan for the season is already set in place.

Michigan State transfer Sam Leavitt appears to have stood out thus far in Spring Ball and is on track to be named ASU’s starting QB for the 2024-25 season.

Like Rashada, Leavitt was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and a top-20 QB from the 2023 class. He also has four eligible years remaining.

Head coach Kenny Dillingham stressed Leavitt’s immediate impact on the team and this move further proves how well the Oregon native has been performing.

Senior Trenton Bourguet, who started in place of Rashada after his injury last season, will be a part of the quarterback room as well.
