Greg Gard and the University of Wisconsin basketball program will play each of the four new additions to the Big Ten conference next season, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Among the highlights of the 2024-25 schedule is that the Wisconsin basketball team will travel to California to face UCLA for the first time since 1972 and Southern Cal for the first time since 1982. They’ll also welcome Big Ten newcomers Washington and Oregon to the Kohl Center. It’ll be the Duck’s first time playing in Madison since 1988 and the Husky’s first time since 1958.

In total, the Badgers’ 20-game conference slate will feature home-and-away clashes with perennial Big Ten rivals Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota.

Home games will also include matchups against Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska (where they’ll face former Badgers guard Connor Essegian), Ohio State, Penn State, Washington, and Oregon. At the same time, road trips will take the Wisconsin basketball program to Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers, UCLA, and USC.

Following a mixed performance last season, where the Badgers started out strong before facing some challenges in the latter part of the regular season, Wisconsin basketball is currently retooling its roster for some redemption.

Despite the February slide, the Badgers made some waves in the Big Ten Tournament, culminating in a spirited run to the title game. However, their NCAA Tournament journey ended in disappointment with an upset loss to James Madison in the opening round.

Now, amidst a slew of roster changes and additions, including the recent acquisitions of Camren Hunter and Xavier Amos, Wisconsin basketball is poised for a fresh start. With promising talent joining the returning veterans, the Badgers should be able to compete in the Big Ten next season
