Wendell Carter Jr fouls out on controversial blocking call
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Duke freshman Wendell Carter Jr fouled out in overtime of the Blue Devils’ Elite Eight game against Kansas after being called for a controversial blocking foul.

With just under three minutes left in the extra period, Malik Newman drove towards the basket for the Jayhawks. Carter appeared to get to the spot before him and was in place to brace for the contact.

Unfortunately for Duke, Carter Jr was called for blocking when some felt a charge should have been called. Carter Jr’s leg did appear to be moving after Newman had already elevated.

Carter had 10 points, two rebounds and two steals at the time of his exit from the game.
