Virginia Tech men’s basketball player Sean Pedulla joined Gourmet Pantry owner and published author Roya Gharavi on Tuesday and hosted a cooking class.

At the event, Pedulla and Gharavi discussed, prepared and shared Italian cuisine ideas with ticket holders in attendance. The NIL activation was facilitated by Virginia Tech-focused agency Triumph NIL.

“Triumph continues to provide creative concepts through which Hokies can connect with their favorite student-athletes who, in turn, are maximizing their NIL value,” Triumph NIL said in a statement to The NIL Deal.

Pedulla, a sophomore, started all 34 games for the Hokies this past season. He averaged 15 points per game, to go along with 3.8 assists, 3.6 rebounds, while shooting 41.6% from the field and 34.4% from beyond-the-arc.

According to Gourmet Pantry’s website, the two-and-a-half hour event sold out and each ticket was $130.

Back in January, Virginia Tech women’s basketball star Liz Kitley teamed up with Gourmet Pantry for an “All-American cooking class.” Kitley has two sold-out appearances scheduled with Gourmet Pantry on April 18 and 19, one of which is a healthy Mediterranean class, also featuring Gharavi.

Triumph NIL spokesperson Doug Hicks told The NIL Deal that he believes the series of events will continue with athletes from other programs as well.
