UCLA Basketball: Teammates Believe Bruin-Turned-NBA Star Is HOF-Worthy
USA TODAY Sports

It’s pretty hard to make it into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame, and rightfully so. These players are the best of the best and once in, nothing can be taken away from their accomplishments.

There is always debate about whether or not some players should be cut. It can be a fun discussion and one that yields different opinions.

One of the more recent discussions is about former UCLA Bruins big man Kevin Love. On the Road Trippin' Podcast, former teammates of Love discussed whether or not the veteran should make the cut when he’s done playing.

Love's former Cleveland Cavaliers teammates Channing Frye and Richard Jefferson were debating it, and both players seem to believe that Love should definitely make the Hall of Fame. Frye started off the discussion with his thoughts.

“I would say yes”

Per Road Trippin' Podcast

Love is a five-time All-Star for his career and does have a championship that he won back in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers. For a good while, he was one of the better players in the NBA and was seen as the best power forward in the game for some years.

Jefferson added to the debate and gave some of his thoughts as well.

“I would lean on the yes side. As a champion, as a multi-time All-Star, as a gold medalist.”

Per Road Trippin' Podcast

For his career, Love has averaged 16.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He has also shot 37 percent from beyond the three-point line for his career as well.

Despite all the accomplishments that Love has seen, I’m not sure he is worthy of the Hall of Fame. It’s one of those situations where if he were to be elected in a class, I’d be totally fine with it. But if I had a vote, I would vote no for right now.

He has seen a very solid career, but the Hall of Fame is meant for players who were special in their careers. This isn’t taking anything away from the things that Love has done, but he would fall just short in my mind.
