The game had already spun out of control, but Arkansas found a way in the waning seconds to eke out a 78-77 win over Texas A&M for its first SEC win.

With 14 seconds left and the Razorbacks up two the Aggies guard Wade Taylor IV scored his 39th, 40th and 41st points of the night to give the Aggies its first lead of the night with 7.6 seconds left to play. That left just enough time for the Hogs' star for the night to drive straight to the basket to seal the game.

Davonte "Devo" Davis made just his second field goal of the night to stretch the lead back to 10 with 6:03 left. Arkansas looked to be on track for its first conference win before Davis was subsequently ejected for kicking a player and getting charged with a flagrant 2.

Taylor, who carried the Aggies the entire second half,  refused to give in with 1:39 left. The Aggies were down seven when he made a three falling down with a defender in his face to cut the lead back down to four. After a pair of free throws on a foul called on Jeremiah Davenport going for a rebound, Taylor (who else?) drove straight to the basket to tie the game at 74 to erase a 20 point first half lead.

After Arkansas fans had become accustomed to slow starts, the Razorbacks were able to flip the script without doing anything particularly spectacular. The Hogs were able to hold the Aggies scoreless for the first four minutes and without a field goal for the first 5:30 as Arkansas raced out to a 15-3 lead after a Keyon Menifield triple forced Texas A&M coach Buzz Williams to burn a quick timeout.

The Aggies continued to have no rhythm, throwing up airballs routinely, while back-to-back triples from Davenport riled up a reduced crowd inside Bud Walton Arena as the Hogs tripled up on Texas A&M. 30-10.

It was almost as if the two teams switched places in the first half as the Aggies went 0-for-14 from deep to start the game while Arkansas shot over 50% in the first half The Aggies looked lost and lethargic after a win over top-10 Kentucky on its home floor on Saturday. The Aggies finally made a three on their 15th attempt, but it was Arkansas with a 46-32 lead.

A quick 5-0 spurt out of intermission from the Aggies' best player, Wade Taylor suddenly cut the Razorbacks lead to single digits for the first time since it was 12-3. Old habits returned as it was Arkansas' turn to go ice cold from the field with only one field goal in the first 7 minutes of the second half. Taylor single-handily dragged the Aggies back to within striking distance. A three-point play (the old-fashioned way) followed by his second triple of the night suddenly had the Aggies back within four, 50-46.

Both teams were whistled for plenty of fouls with most of the Razorbacks' scoring coming at the free-throw line. The Hogs went nearly 8 minutes in the second half without a field goal but still found themselves clinging to a six-point lead at 60-54 thanks to a second half that saw the Hogs shoot  18-for-26 from the line in the final 20 minutes with 50 fouls between both teams for the game.

With the monkey off its back, the Hogs now play South Carolina at home noon Jan. 20. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network and fuboTV.
