Pitt Transfer Locks in Visit to West Virginia
USA TODAY Sports

Despite Jimmy Bell Jr., James Okonkwo, and Mohamed Wague all eligible to return next season, the West Virginia Mountaineers are searching hard for another big man in the transfer portal.

They've been in contact with a number of bigs, but it appears there is some momentum in the recruitment of former Pitt Panther, John Hugley, who will be visiting WVU from April 21-23, per Joe Tipton of On3. Before he makes the trek to Morgantown, he will be taking a visit to Nebraska from April 17-19. The Mountaineers recruited Hugley hard coming out of Brush High School in Cleveland, Ohio back in 2020 before he ultimately chose Pitt.

Hugley only saw eight games of action this year due to a lingering knee injury that he suffered prior to the start of the season. He tried to play through it but just couldn't play at full speed and opted to shut it down early in the year.

In 32 games in 2021-22, Hugley was considered one of the better centers in the ACC, averaging 14.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

In addition to WVU, Hugley has also heard from Michigan, Oregon, Miami, Rutgers, Xavier, Arkansas, LSU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Maryland, Georgia Tech, UCF, Wisconsin, Butler, Dayton, Ohio, Arizona State, Georgia, Duquesne, Oakland, Loyola Marymount, and Cleveland State.

He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
