Ohio State Buckeyes Could Target Mick Cronin For Coaching Vacancy
Zachary BonDurant-USA TODAY Sports

Could Mick Cronin return to Ohio? The former University of Cincinnati Men's Basketball Coach has been mentioned as a possible fit at Ohio State.

The Buckeyes fired Chris Holtman on Wednesday. Kyle Boone of CBS Sports thinks Cronin could be a potential fit at Ohio State.

"Cronin has made it clear throughout this season he is unhappy about the support his program got during the offseason on the NIL front," Boone wrote. "He won 58 games the two seasons prior to this year, so it's unlikely he's looking for an exit even amid a down year, but a return to Ohio—where he previously led Cincinnati—would at least be worth Bjork's time to make a phone call and kick the tires."

Cronin's UCLA Bruins are 13-11 on the season. It wouldn't be shocking to see him return to the midwest. Ohio State could certainly be an option. The Louisville job could also open up at some point and could be a good fit.

Cronin has spent the past five years at UCLA. He spent 14 seasons as the head coach at UC (2006-2019). He was also an assistant at the University of Louisville for three seasons (2001-2003).
