Only 22 Spartans have ever reached 1,000 points and 600 career rebounds and Malik Hall is now one of them as of Tuesday.

The exciting news just keeps on coming after Michigan State’s 81-62 win over Michigan on Friday. Tom Izzo earning win No. 700 was by far the highlight of the night, but Malik Hall joined an elite group of 22 Michigan State basketball players to accomplish a different feat.

1,000-point and 600-rebound club

In Michigan State’s win over Minnesota, Malik Hall became the 45th Spartan to join the 1,000-point club. Fast forward a few games to Tuesday night and Hall joined an even more exclusive club. Hall finished the game against Michigan with 12 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Those three boards were enough to put him at 600 career rebounds at MSU.

This is a huge accomplishment for Hall. The 1,000-point club is now up to 46 members as AJ Hoggard reached that milestone against Michigan, but only 22 of those players have also recorded 600 rebounds. You obviously have to be a great player to score 1,000 points, and to cut that list in half for this new milestone Malik reached is no small feat.

On a night when so much happened in Michigan State basketball history, this is yet another great milestone that came from Tuesday night.

Malik Hall season in review

So far this season, Malik is averaging 11.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. However he recently has been playing some of the best basketball of his season. He hasn’t exploded for a big game recently, but he has been the most consistent player for Michigan State. In the last six games, Hall has scored double figures in each game including 16 against Minnesota.

This six-game stretch is on the heels of one of his worst performances against Northwestern. In that game, he failed to register a stat in 25 minutes played. As a fifth-year senior, this is the exact response you’d hope to get from him. Hall is one of the keys to this team, and his consistency is one of the main reasons the Spartans have won four of their last five games.

If Malik can keep this consistency going, I really love their chances to keep rattling off some wins.
