Kansas State downs rival No. 4 Kansas in OT

Tylor Perry scored eight of his game-high 26 points in overtime as Kansas State knocked off No. 4 Kansas 75-70 Monday night in Manhattan, Kan.

After giving the Wildcats the lead with a layup with 2:41 left in overtime, Perry hit a 3-pointer to make it 70-66 in favor of Kansas State with 1:54 left. After Hunter Dickinson trimmed it to 70-68, Perry hit two free throws to extend it to 72-68. Dajuan Harris cut it to 72-70 with a pair of free throws before Kevin McCullar had a chance to tie it but missed the front end of a one-and-one on the ensuing possession.

Arthur Kaluma then hit two freebies and, after Harris missed a layup attempt, Perry's free throw iced the victory in the 300th meeting between the schools. It is the sixth-most-played rivalry in Division I men's basketball history.

Kansas State (15-8, 5-5 Big 12) also got 19 from Cam Carter and 13 from Kaluma to snap a four-game losing streak.

Kansas (18-5, 6-4) was led by Dickinson's 21 points. McCullar and Harris added 15 each and K.J. Adams Jr. added 13.

Kansas stretched a two-point halftime lead to 41-30 with the first nine points of the second half. But Kansas State scored the next 11 points to tie it up five minutes into the half.

Neither team could get much separation from that point on. When Perry hit three free throws, the Wildcats led 55-52 with less than five minutes left in regulation. After Dickinson scored inside, Carter's 3-pointer gave the Wildcats a 58-54 lead.

Kansas used a 6-0 run to regain the lead on a layup by McCullar with 1:42 left. Kaluma scored on a put-back with 23 seconds left to give Kansas State the lead, but Adams dunked home the tying score with 14.2 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

Kansas State came out shooting from long range, hitting 3 of 7 from 3-point range before the first media timeout. The Wildcats played with more energy than they had during the first four games of their losing streak, as indicated by a 17-16 advantage in rebounds after 20 minutes against the taller Jayhawks.

Kansas took a slim 32-30 lead into the locker room. The Wildcats were led by Carter with eight points while the Jayhawks had four players with seven points apiece.
