Ex-Auburn guard K.D. Johnson transfers to George Mason
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Former Auburn guard K.D. Johnson announced Friday on his Instagram page that he will transfer to George Mason.

Johnson is looking for more opportunity and playing time after his scoring average and minutes both went down over the past two seasons.

In 2021-22, Johnson averaged 12.3 points in 34 games (31 starts) and played an average of 27.8 minutes per game. His averages fell to 8.9 and then 7.1 with his playing time falling to 21.9 and then 17.7 over the next two seasons. He made just one start during that two-year stretch.

Overall, Johnson averaged 9.4 points in 102 games (32 starts) with the Tigers.

Johnson played his first college season at Georgia before transferring to Auburn. He averaged 13.5 in 16 games for the Bulldogs. He missed the first half of the season while waiting to be academically cleared by the NCAA.

George Mason is located in Fairfax, Va., about 200 miles northeast of where Johnson played high school ball at Hargrave Military Academy.
