Mike Tyson Responds To Critics Of Jake Paul Fight: ‘I’m 58 And Getting Billions Of Views’

For Mike Tyson, there is no concern to stepping inside the boxing ring even as he approaches 60 years old.

The former heavyweight champion will meet Jake Paul later this year in a special to air live on Netflix.

While many are calling into question the booking, Tyson does not see a problem with it.

“I’m 58 and what? I’m getting billions of views from just talking to somebody about fight,” Tyson told Reuters. “Everybody, even most of the athletes, they’re jealous. That’s whack.

“I say in your prime you couldn’t draw a million people, man. What are you talking, you couldn’t sell out arena. Who at 58 could sell out an 80,000-seat arena?”

Tyson and Paul, who is 27 years old, will meet July 20 from AT&T Stadium just outside of Dallas.

Four years ago, Tyson met Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout. It was declared a split draw despite many feeling Tyson won.

Paul, though, is a different level. He is 9-1 with wins over the likes of Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz and Tyron Woodley. His lone loss came to Tommy Fury last year via split decision.

“Why you think he wants to fight me and not anybody else?” Tyson said. “Everybody wants to fight him, all the boxers want to fight him. But if he fought them, the only people that will come are the people that like him.

“The other guys, their parents might not even come watch. That’s just keeping it real. They’re too boring for their children to watch.”

During his career, Tyson went 50-6 with 44 knockouts to his credit.
