WWE boss Vince McMahon once prominently used the N-word on national TV during a 2005 event, and people are now labeling him as a hypocrite for firing Hulk Hogan for saying the same thing.

On TV, McMahon said the word to John Cena in front of black wrestlers Booker T and Sharmell, leaving them stunned. Hogan is said to be furious that the WWE fired him for saying the same thing the company owner has said.

However, the WWE says there is a big difference between the two; they believe McMahon said the word as part of a scripted event.

A spokesperson told TMZ that everyone recognizes what McMahon did “was an outlandish and satirical skit involving fictional characters, similar to that of many scripted television shows and movies.”

We completely agree. As uncomfortable as it is for the N-word to be used, it was clear that McMahon was playing a character and role when using it. Hogan used it in a way to disparagingly describe black people in the context of being admittedly racist.
