Elbow injury knocks No. 8 seed David Ferrer out of Wimbledon

LONDON -- Spanish player David Ferrer has withdrawn from Wimbledon because of an elbow injury. Wimbledon says the eighth-seeded Ferrer will be replaced in the draw by lucky loser Luca Vanni of Italy. Ferrer had been scheduled to face British wild-card entry James Ward in the first round. Ferrer has never won a major title, but he reached the French Open final in 2013, losing to Rafael Nadal.

David Ferrer Faces $20,000 Fine for Pushing a Linesman

WATCH: Ball kid gets nailed in face with errant shot

They sure do make them tough in Australia!   Florian Mayer was returning the serve of David Ferrer and it ended up clocking a poor ball kid right in the face.  Ouch!  He took it like a champ though because it what felt like a millisecond he bounced back like it didn't even happen.  I'm gonna guess he has quite the nice shiner this morning though.
