Former World No. 9 CoCo Vandeweghe is retiring after this week's San Diego Open. The longtime San Diego-area resident is scheduled for a Thursday quarterfinals doubles match with partner Danielle Collins.
Danielle Collins beat qualifier Louisa Chirico in singles at the Cymbiotika San Diego Open on Tuesday and then joined Coco Vandeweghe of nearby Rancho Santa Fe for a doubles victory against Marta Kostyuk and Alycia Parks.
Coco Vandeweghe, who reached a career-high ranking of No. 9 in 2018 but has struggled in recent years, will be playing in her final US Open, it was announced Tuesday night.
American Madison Keys announced Saturday that she has withdrawn from Wimbledon due to an abdominal injury. Keys, seeded 19th, was slated to play her first-round match on Monday.
