Quick introduction to team old hat for newest Edmonton Oilers acquisition

When Mark Fraser was swapped from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Edmonton Oilers, then joined his new team on the road and suited up for them in a matinee in Boston before he had met most of his teammates, let alone practised with them, it was not a new experience for him. It happened to him in similar fashion in 2004 when he was playing Tier II junior with the Gloucester Rangers...

Leafs defenseman Mark Fraser reminds us all that Ottawa is not necessarily Senators territory

The Ottawa Sun's Tim Baines reports that Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mark Fraser was skating with the Ottawa Senators' players at the Bell Sensplex on Thursday (as was some Alfred-something guy), and as Baines discusses Fraser's love for the Toronto Maple Leafs despite his status as a born-and-raised Ottawan, I would like to posit the reason that Senators fans are...

Leaked CT scan of puck injury a fake?

The Maple Leafs defenseman took a Milan Lucic shot to the forehead and required surgery to repair a broken bone in "his cranial area." You may remember Toronto’s Mark Fraser taking a Milan Lucic slapshot to the forehead during Game 4 of the Bruins-Leafs series, resulting in a pretty scary moment on the ice in Toronto. This weekend, an image of Fraser’s purported CT scan surfaced on the Internet and showed some significant damage to the defenseman’s skull. The image hasn’t been confirmed (although it does...

Toronto’s Mark Fraser Was Hit In The Face With Puck And It Looked Excruciatingly Painful

Need another reason to think that hockey is a dangerous sport? In the third period of Game 4 of the Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins series, Toronto defenseman Mark Fraser was the victim of a frightening moment. While Fraser was skating around he caught a screaming shot by Boston’s Milan Lucic with his face. Unfortunately for Fraser he does not wear a visor so the puck smashed directly...

Mark Fraser takes slap shot to the face

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mark Fraser knew that goalie James Reimer was down and out of the play and decided to get in front of this Bruins shot.  Unfortunately for Fraser, the puck went higher than anticipated and caught him right in the forehead.  Fraser did not return to the game and this is just another example of why visors should be mandatory. Mark Fraser Takes A Slapshot To The Forehead Against Bruins

(Video quality is sub-par, will update when better version becomes available.) This week has featured a couple of NHLers willing to turn their faces into puck-stopping mechanisms. First, Washington’s Steven Olesky made the sacrifice earlier in the week during Game 1 against the Rangers, then Mark Fraser ate one on Wednesday night’s Bruins-Maple Leafs Game 4. Fraser took a Milan...
