The Dallas Cowboys added a former player to the coaching staff this week. New defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer has hired former defensive end Greg Ellis as assistant defensive line coach under defensive line coach Jeff Zgonina.
Mike Zimmer is bringing in some familiar faces to work on his first Cowboys defensive staff. Former Zimmer assistants and at least one of his former players in Dallas will be part of the group.
As reported yesterday, Greg Ellis has been named the head coach at Southwestern Assemblies of God University, an NAIA school with about 2,000 students in the Texas town of Waxahachie, 30 miles south of Dallas.
Greg Ellis is back on the football field. His new team, though, might not attract the same kind of attention that the Cowboys did when he was a starting defensive end.
