PLAYERS: Ray Lewis
TEAMS: Baltimore Ravens

From NESN:

Patriots fans aren’t just counting down the minutes to Sunday’s AFC Championship Game. They’re also publicly preparing for the retirement of Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, who announced before the playoffs that he would be retiring after the season.

On Wednesday, @MassBillboards tweeted out a photo of a billboard in the Boston area that is actually counting down minutes until Lewis’ retirement, which would begin if and when the Patriots beat Baltimore on Sunday evening.

According to the tweets, they are “in Medford/Stoneham on 93 and in Lawrence on 495.”

Check out the tweet below:

  • Big deal. This is a fan saying this. To hing else. It's not the Patriots organization.
  • The billboards, operated by Clear Channel Outdoor Boston, read “Ray’s Retirement Party” with a countdown clock ticking off the days, hours and minutes until the AFC championship game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Lewis announced earlier this month that this would be his final NFL season.

The billboards are located on highways north of Boston in Medford, Stoneham and Lawrence, along stretches of I-93 and I-495.

According to Mike Dobson, a marketing manager with CCO Boston, the idea for the billboards first came to them Tuesday and they had them up and running on seven different Clear Channel-owned billboards by Wednesday morning. It’s a company promotion, so there’s no super Patriots fan footing the bill for the glowing display

  • Hopefully, the Ravens will put the Patriots out of their misery. What a shame it would be for the Patriots to lose a second SB in a row.
  • He is a scumbag murder and should be in jail.

  • What happens when the Ravens win and Ray Lewis goes on to play in the SuperBowl? Ravens fans will need to keep the board up and running so that the Pats fans will see it for another two weeks!!!
  • I think the AFC teams should put up a billboard that counts down the time Gronkowski (Shrek) plays and gets injured again
  • Well, Patriot fans, I guess the countdown continues. Thanks for giving Ray more incentive to stick around 2 more weeks. You can now watch the countdown live on Super Bowl Sunday !!!
  • Popping up all over Massachusetts are LED billboards counting down to Ray Lewis’ retirement party — which Patriots fans are hoping will begin in Foxborough Sunday evening with a win over the Ravens in the AFC title game.

“It’s generating a ton of buzz,” Dobson said, adding that they did similar billboards for last year’s Super Bowl and last weekend’s game against the Texans, but none have gotten the type of attention this particular stunt is bringing their way.

Their counterpart in the Baltimore/D.C. area has some much tamer billboards that read "Bring it on New England" and "The clock is Tickin' New England!" with a similar countdown clock below.

Pats fans should be wary of planning parties too far in advance, however. Tom Brady said ahead of last year’s Super Bowl that he was hoping to “have a lot more people at our party next weekend,” during a packed Gillette Stadium Super Bowl sendoff.

We all know how that turned out

We have all been planning for Ray Lewis to play in his last game for the last few weeks, maybe we should stop? Boston Billboard Counting Down the Days to Ray Lewis’ Retirement Party (Photo)

I have to admit this is pretty funny. I don’t think the game will be a blow out, the Ravens and Patriots always play close games. If the Ravens win this will be a lot of wasted money.

Tom Brady will be looking for Ray Lewis

It's been news conference day today, ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens, a day which will hopefully be known as "Ray Lewis's Last Game". And it will be the last game between Lewis and Tom Brady, a match up which has always been great. And we know Brady and Lewis respect the heck out of each other...

Baltimore Ravens Travel to New England for Championship Rematch

Ray Lewis’ powerful locker room speech from last year’s heart-tearing loss in the AFC Championship at the hands of the New England Patriots included the prospects of holding heads high, getting back to work, and returning to the very same position this season.Despite the incredible odds against accomplishing such a feat, the Ravens defeated the top seeded Broncos, 38-35, in Denver...

Who do we like this weekend in the playoffs

Ok, so the Bengals are out. However, NFL football is still going on and like us, most of you will be watching. Who do you root for? Personally I am torn. Part of me wants to root for the Ravens. My reasoning is that they are a division opponent and whats good for the division is good for the Bengals. The Bengals will get to play them twice next season and it would be nice to beat...

NFL Conference Championship Picks

Playoffs: 5-3  REGULAR SEASON: 168-86-1 (66%) Def. I can't believe I'm making this selection, but I just have a feeling the Ravens are on that kind of roll the Giants had last year. The return of many players including Ray Lewis has really rejuvenated this team. I don't have a big write-up on this one because logic does indeed point to the Patriots...

Ravens at Patriots: 5 Keys to Prepare for an AFC Championship Win
