Niners CEO taking hit after loss to the Seahawks

The deterioration of the San Francisco 49ers has been in the spotlight since early last season and the once=proud franchise took yet another big hit on Thursday when it fell with little fight to a struggling Seattle Seahawks team, 20-3.

But even with as much as Colin Kaepernick and the Niners have been criticized on the field, the bulk of the blame after Thursday’s loss is being directed at CEO Jed York.

It isn’t the first time in the past year or so that responsibility has been put on him, either.

As San Jose Mercury News reporter Tim Kawakami labeled it, the 2-5 Niners’ “ season is heading south, on a direct line; it starts with Jed York, and nobody really knows when or where it might end.”

The loss, while somewhat expected, was eerily similar to the beating the Niners took last Thanksgiving—a 19-3 swatting which was highlighted by Seattle’s Richard Sherman eating a turkey dinner on the 49ers’ logo. After the game, York took to Twitter to apologize to fans for the poor performance. The tweet also put the blame on then-coach Jim Harbaugh, which fueled a very public display of the two men's fractured relationship.

After this Thursday’s embarrassment at Levi’s Stadium, York was not available for comment. In fact, he was reportedly wasn't in the building after the game ended.

Bay Area Sports Guy asked in his post-mortem:

“Where was the Jed York tweet apologizing for today’s effort against Seattle? The fans who drove to Levi’s had to battle rush hour traffic, which is much worse than Thanksgiving traffic. At least most of them got home relatively early, since the stadium was about 35% full at the beginning of the fourth quarter.”

With roughly half the season in the books, it doesn’t look like San Francisco has enough components to completely pull out of this dumpster fire. It won’t be a surprise, either, if the blame continues to be put on York’s shoulders.

Can you name every 49ers starting quarterback since Steve Young?
