NFL Kickoff Week: Which NFL team is going to have the most disappointing season?

Welcome to the Yardbarker NFL Roundtable, a place where our most fervent football contributors can kickback, relax and look at the fun (and sometimes not-so-fun) parts of the biggest league in America; the massive behemoth that is the National Football League. Don't forget to check out Part I,  Part II and Part III.

Few sports have the dream-crushing ability to completely devastate an entire fan base quite like football, but especially in the NFL where the window for a team to make a legitimate Super Bowl run can be as short as just a single season. So we asked our panelists which team is going to most likely break their fans hearts in 2016.

Which NFL team is going to have the most disappointing season after getting its hopes up during the offseason (aside of the Vikings)?

David Matthews
The Raiders. Their offense is probably going to be ridiculous this year (Amari Cooper/Derek Carr is so choice), but screw them. Mark Davis is somehow worse than his father. He's extorting Oakland. He looks likethat. He makes my skin crawl. Mark Davis was born crossing home plate and thinks he hit a home run. They still have to play the Broncos, Chiefs, and Chargers six times. The back half of their schedule is absolutely brutal and I cannot wait for them to finish 5-11.

Jamie Neal
The Houston Texans landed Brock Osweiler and Lamar Miller, a hopeful combo for a team that has struggled with consistency at the QB position since the teams inception. The Texans career rushing leader is Arian Foster with 6,472 yards, which isnt a bad thing, but he has only started 16 games once in his career, so they are clearly looking for some stability with two of the more important positions on the football field. Unfortunately, the Texans have a healthy Andrew Luck and a rising Jacksonville Jaguars team to contend with in their division. Bill O'Brien also has some work to do to improve on the Texans 9-7 season last year. Winning a division at 9-7 is cute, but it's not impressive.

Phillip Barnett
I've lived through this for the last 15 seasons and know imminent disappointment when I see it. The Raiders have built their roster around a lot of really good, young talent – but as of right now that's all they are: really good, young talent. They have five early games on the east coast, which have historically been death for west coast teams, and of their games at home, they play the Panthers, the Chiefs and the Broncos – all three teams that are due for a decline from last season, but still present problems that have been issues for the Raiders in past seasons. If the Raiders offense turns out to be every bit as good as they expect it to be and the front-seven lives up to expectations, eight or nine wins won't be out of the question, but they're still a season away from really competing for the division.

Daniel Tran
The fate of the Dallas Cowboys rests on the frail shoulders (and back) of Tony Romo; a position they are familiar with, but the results of the past are not reassuring. "America's Team" went 1-11 last season without Romo, and it doesn't appear that the offense will be the same with 23-year-old Dak Prescott running the show. After such high hopes coming into the season, the Cowboys will be slumming it under .500 for much of the season if Romo doesn't return to full form.

Joe Boland
The Raiders. Because they're the Raiders, and really, they're not quite there yet. Denver still has most of its Super Bowl defense, the Chiefs are a legitimately complete team and the Chargers, well, they still have a better quarterback, no matter how much Derek Carr's star has risen.

Shiloh Carder
Denver Broncos. That defense is nice and all but there is a huge question at quarterback. Peyton Manning had a tough season a year ago but he's still Peyton Manning. The arm may have left him but he made up for it with his intelligence and experience. The experience – along with Manning – is gone. Again, the defense is legit but it may not be enough to overcome a sketchy offense.

Vincent Frank
The New York Giants spent big bucks to help improve what was the second-worst defense in the NFL last season. It's in this that the team added defensive end Olivier Vernon and cornerback Janoris Jenkins.
While both have to be considered improvements from a season ago, neither is going to be the face of the team's rebuild on defense. In particular, Jenkins was one of the most overvalued free agents on the market. Here's a guy that was burnt consistently on the outside as a member of the then St. Louis Rams. He's now being tasked with going up against the opposition's No. 1 receiver without any sort of solid safety play behind him.

No matter how good the Giants' offense is this season, they need to improve on defense. If that doesn't happen, any hope of winning the NFC East is lost.

Mike Tunison
The Cardinals, because they're going all out for the Super Bowl - the Chandler Jones trade in particular - and won't get there.

Sam Greszes
I can't say the Bears, right? All of our hopes have been ground into nothingness by the preseason, so when we only manage to win two games this year, it won't really be disappointing, it'll be what we all expect. Since they're disqualified, I'll go with Washington. There's certainly reason for fans to be hopeful, Norman has looked great, as has Cousins, but once regular season play begins, no amount of Pierre Garcons will be able to hide the fact that the Redskins don't really have a running back.

Demetrius Bell
The Raiders are a sexy pick to win the AFC West this year. I'm sorry, but I've gotten way too used to the Raiders being a hot mess of a franchise, and I'm not quite ready to jump on their bandwagon after a 7-9 season. Yeah, they improved during the offseason and this division could be up for grabs, but there are certain franchises in this league where you're just waiting for the other shoe to drop. The Raiders have become one of those franchises in recent years, so I'm just waiting for the anvil to come crashing down on them just as they get their eyes set on the roadrunner that is the playoffs. We'll see what happens, but right now, I'm picking the Raiders for this one.
