TEAMS:
New York Jets
The Jets swapped disappointment tackles with the Rams when they sent Wayne Hunter to St. Louis for Jason Smith. I was in the middle of recording a podcast with my brother so if you feel like hearing our reaction as it was happening, go give it a listen.
Maybe I’m stating the obvious, but I am convinced this trade has nothing to do with replacing Austin Howard but everything to do with getting rid of Wayne Hunter. I believe his mental state of mind was at the point that he wasn’t even going to be effective in his newly demoted role as a Jumbo TE. Wayne Hunter was a dead man walking around Florham park, and the Jets did a nice guy a favor and shipped him to his former offenisve coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer.
Hunter had nothing to Smile about with the Jets.
damienwoody I’ll say this about Wayne Hunter…..great teammate & true professional. Not a lot of ppl could’ve handled his situation the way he did 8/27/12 9:52 PM

Sanchez plus Tebow equals no TDs so far for Jets
The New York Jets are still searching for the end zone.
Mark Sanchez can't get them there, and neither can Tim Tebow.
After three preseason games, the Jets' offensive ineptitude has become a punch line - especially since they're the first team in 35 years to go this long without a touchdown. Sure, it's still only the preseason and the Jets insist they're not...
Tim Tebow, the running back?
Could the New York Jets use Tim Tebow as a full time running back? (Credit: AP Photo)
After a rather slow start to their pre-season, one in which the offense has yet to score a touchdown, some in the New York media are discussing a radical idea for using Tim Tebow.
The New York Post’s Steve Serby wrote a column on Tuesday proposing that Tim Tebow be moved to running back full...
Former Furman standout corner cut by the Jets
Today corner back Ryan Steed of Furman University was informed of his release by the New York Jets. Ryan was one of the draft picks that several draft analysts claimed could be be drafted in the first round. Steed is a very talented athlete who was a star basketball player in high school out of South Carolina. Steed was one of the best shut down corners in the SoCon division last...
Jets yet to score a touchdown in preseason
It’s the preseason. It’s important not to get too excited or too worried about anything that happens in the preseason. Starters rarely play into the 2nd half and game plans are as vanilla as they come on both sides of the ball. Countless players don’t play for precautionary reasons with injuries they would play through during the regular season. Aaron Rodgers is 20 of 41 (48...
The Passion Of The Tebow, Or How The NFL Became A Reality Show
Jebus wants this mic to be liveMy friend and occasional FTT writer Tracer Bullet posted about the NFL Network's Tim Tebow documentary, with the pretty by-the-book reaction of how irritating this whole thing is. My reaction was as follows:Like all men having to wear hats at all times did for us, the Tebow Phenomenon is going to comfort future generations that they are much, much...
Jets Claim Ex-Browns P Spencer Lanning Off Waivers
The Jets claimed P Spencer Lanning off waivers from the Browns, creating competition for second-year P T.J. Conley.
Conley had a net average of 38.8 yards per punt as a rookie in 2011, while putting 32 punts inside the 20-yard line against just six touchbacks. Lanning has punted four times this preseason with an average of 50.5 yards per punt. He has never attempted a regular-season...
New York Jets’ Josh Baker Tears ACL: Expected to Miss Season
New York Jets tight end Josh Baker is believed to have a torn ACL, sidelining him for the entire 2012 season. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News first reported the details of the injury. To anyone watching the game, the severity of his injury was apparent immediately. The Jets already lacked quality depth at tight end and now that has been underscored, especially with Dustin...
Jets PK Nick Folk Holds Off Josh Harris To Keep His Job
For the second straight year, Nick Folk has won a training-camp competition to be the Jets' starting kicker.
Folk's challenger, Josh Brown, indicated on his Twitter account this morning that his time with the team is over. A person with knowledge of the Jets' decision confirmed that Brown has, indeed, been cut. That person requested anonymity because the Jets have not...
The Jets are in trouble with their anemic offense
The New York Jets have a major problem. They've played three preseason games, and they still haven't put the ball in the endzone. At this point, it's hard to imagine Tony Sparano feeling comfortable about his job security as the Jets prepare for their final preseason game against the Eagles.
Last night's game against Carolina showed us a few things. First off...

Every NFL Offensive Line Sucks
Looking at the NFC East right now, you could probably make a convincing argument that the weakest unit on all four teams in that division is the offensive line.
In New York, Eli Manning's blind side is in trouble with Will Beatty hurt and Mark Sanchez's front side is in jeopardy as the Jets look for a right tackle solution not named Wayne Hunter.
