Ty Lawson has 'nothing bad to say' about Nuggets in return

One major conversation point ahead of the Houston Rockets' game against the Denver Nuggets is, naturally, that Friday marks Ty Lawson's return to Denver.

There's no ignoring that the relationship between the Nuggets and the 28-year-old point guard crumbled ahead of the trade in July that sent him to Houston. But when asked about his return to the Pepsi Center playing for a different team, Lawson told Christopher Dempsey of The Denver Post that he has nothing but fond memories:

“It was pretty great... I had a good couple of years here. This team gave me my first opportunity and chance. So I have nothing bad to say.”

It is possible that six seasons with Denver hold more good memories than bad ones. The bad things—multiple DUIs, missing the first practice after the All-Star Break and subsequently getting benched—just so happen to be the most recent. Those things, mixed with a less-than-stellar relationship with former coach Brian Shaw, led to his exit over the summer.

Granted, Friday's contest could dig up some emotions that lead Lawson to sing a different tune post-game. For the time being, however, if Lawson holds any ill will toward his former team, he isn't showing it.

"Things happen for a reason,” he said about wishing that things over the last year had turned out differently. “God has a plan, so I’m going to follow it."
