NBA 24/7 365:
Happy New Year, loyal readers! On the first day of 2013, I present to you the final POTDs of 2012. Let us begin with Vince Carter, who turns 36 years old in a couple of weeks. You’d never know it by the looks of this jam…
I was never a fan of VC’s motorcycle celebration, but over the past few seasons I think I’ve come to like it. These days, I appreciate a Half Man slam far too much to quibble over such things as post-dunk antics. Rev that bike, Vince!
Dunk rating on the Starbury Nastiness Scale:
For New Year’s Eve, Orlando Magic rookie DeQuan Jones gets the nod. Jones went unselected in last summer’s draft, but he got the better of perennial All-Star Chris Bosh on this particular play. As if he were a running back, watch DeQuan collect the handoff and toast Udonis Haslem with an abrupt cutback. With the help of a nice block from Nikola Vucevic, he takes it all the way to the house…
Honorable mention to Hakim Warrick, who made a big play in an interesting game. I nearly gave Warrick the honors, but a Marco Belinelli reach doesn’t exactly constitute the type of defensive effort that makes for a winning poster dunk in my humble opinion. Sorry, Hak.

Vince Carter one of the best all time dunkers in NBA history prove he still has something left in the tank with his highlight dunk the other night. The Mavericks got destroyed by the Spurs but the play of the night went to Carter, who dunked on Kawhi Leonard.
I think Carter should do 1 more NBA dunk contest before he retires.

Finally, the Dallas Mavericks put together a mark in the win column by beating the Washington Wizards 103-94. This was a must for the Mavs, after all this is the worst start of a season since 1999 and they needed this spark to take them to Miami to face the Heat in another back to back scenario.
I had mentioned in my last post asking if the Mavs were going to let the Spurs run...
The Dallas Mavericks are currently 12-19 and in the midst of a six game losing streak. Furthermore, they have dropped nine out of their last 10 games. That isn't sitting well with head coach Rick Carlisle. So, in an effort to help turn things around he has threatened to suspend players if the "unprecedented" stretch of losing continues.“It’s not what this organization...
Vince Carter scored 23 points, O.J. Mayo and Darren Collison each added 15 to help the Dallas Mavericks break their six-game losing streak with a 103-94 win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.
When the Wizards, who are now 4-25, took a 14-point lead early in the second quarter, Dallas, which had arrived in Washington in the midst of its longest skid in nearly 14 years...
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Vince Carter scored 23 points, O.J. Mayo and Darren Collison each added 15 to help the Dallas Mavericks break their six-game losing streak with a 103-94 win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.

WASHINGTON -- Forget playing at their previous championship winning level: The scuffling Dallas Mavericks entered the New Year simply in need of a victory. Thanks to a dunking Vince Carter, a shot-making Dirk Nowitzki -- and playing the owners of the NBA's worst record -- the wish came true. Carter scored 23 points and Nowitzki's offense keyed a 22-6 third quarter run as...
Dirk Nowitzki went 5-for-7 from the floor to score a season-high 11 points in 17 minutes.
The process of letting the ball roll down the court without touching it in order to save time is called Walking the Dog. I honestly can say I've never heard that term used before. Apparently LeBron James loves walking the dog though. He did it Monday for 10+ seconds against the Orlando Magic, which has to be a record if something as dumb as that was actually considered...
As if battering the Dallas Mavericks for a 25-point blowout win wasn't enough, San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker rubbed salt in Dallas' wounds by finishing after being fouled deep into the Mavericks' defense.
With just under four minutes remaining and the game put away for the night, Parker was fouled by Chris Kaman but hung on to bounce in the shot on his way down...
In grabbing 29 rebounds against the Miami Heat, Nikola Vucevic broke an Orlando Magic franchise record previously held by none other than Shaquille O’Neal. With all due respect to Vucevic (who happens to be a fine young player averaging a double-double on the season), Chris Bosh should probably be ashamed of himself. The Heat did manage to beat the Magic in overtime (112-110...

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Carlos Boozer had a season-high 31 points and 11 rebounds, Luol Deng scored 23 points and the Chicago Bulls hung on to beat the Orlando Magic 96-94 on Wednesday night.
Taj Gibson added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulls, who played without center Joakim Noah. Chicago was outrebounded 37-34 in Noah's absence but exploited an injury-plagued Magic front...
ORLANDO -- Carlos Boozer had 31points and 11 rebounds to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 96-94 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. It was the seventh consecutive loss for the Magic (12-20). Jameer Nelson matched his career high with 32 points for the Magic, but he missed two shots in the last 11 seconds that allowed the Bulls to preserve the victory. Taj Gibson, in his...
