ATLANTA -- The Cleveland Cavaliers ended the Atlanta Hawks' six-game winning streak 113-111 on a follow-up shot by Alonzo Gee as time expired Friday night at Phillips Arena. The Cavaliers (4-12) ended their own four-game losing streak behind a flurry of fourth-quarter points off the bench by Jeremy Pargo -- 10 of his 22 overall -- and Anderson Varejao's 20 points and 18 rebounds. Dion Waiters added 21 points. Josh Smith led the Hawks (9-5) with 25 points and Al Horford had 15 point with 11 rebounds. All five Hawks starters scored in double-figures. But after turning the ball over only five times through three quarters, they turned it over seven times in the fourth. Devin Harris, getting the start in place of the injured Kyle Korver, was perfect in the first quarter, shooting 3 for 3 and going 3 for 3 from the foul line for nine points. The Cavaliers weathered the Hawks' early surge with a boost from Tyler Zeller, who scored eight points in four minutes off the benc...

Barkley: Varejao has been the best non-alien forward in Eastern Conference

If Anderson Varejao, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol aren’t on the All-Star team, it’s a farce. Anderson Varejao has been the best forward in the Eastern Conference this year. I mean of there mere mortals — I don’t count LeBron, he’s one of those aliens. But out of the normal human beings, Anderson Varejao has been the best forward in the Eastern Conference this year. ...

Video: Dion Waiters monster double-pump dunk

Tweet The Cleveland Cavaliers took a risk by drafting Dion Waiters fourth overall in last summer’s NBA Draft, mostly for his ability to make plays like this: Waiters early development has been much needed for a Cavs team that is without last season’s ROY Kyrie Irving. If Waiters can keep it up, the Cavs will [...]

Loss stings, but Cavs offering something here

CLEVELAND -- Finding new ways to describe the Cavaliers habit of keeping games close, and then losing, may be the most difficult part of this season. But the nice thing is theyre keeping it close. In a city thats begging for a reason to taunt opposing fans, a reason to experience how it feels to win and win a lot, maybe that doesnt sound like much of a prize. Maybe the Cavs 118...

In The Scrum With Alonzo Gee

After hitting the first game winner of his NBA career to snap a 6-game Atlanta Hawks win streak, Cleveland Cavaliers foward Alonzo Gee took a moment to reflect on his highlight-reel worthy lay in.

Wild times for the Wild Thing

One month into the season, Anderson Varejao is All-Star worthy. "He's the best center in the NBA right now; by far the best in the Eastern Conference," said Cavaliers coach Byron Scott. Even if you don't entirely agree with Varejao's coach, it's hard to argue with the numbers. The 6-foot-11 wild man is averaging a career-high 14.5 points. He leads the...
