This will mark the fifth season that the US Air Force has been a sponsor for Richard Petty Motorsports, and it is now the 13th year that the military branch has been in NASCAR. Almirola is a natural pairing for the US Air Force, as his father served for the branch and he himself was born on an Air Force base in Eglin, Florida. In the team release Almirola broke down how perfect his partnership with the USAF is. “I’m really proud of how Richard Petty Motorsports helps connect the Air Force with race fans,” the 28-year-old driver said. “We go out to the Air Force display and the swear-ins at the track, and it’s great to see people lined up wanting to learn about the technology and the opportunities available.
