Ricky Stenhouse Jr., driver of the No. 6 Valvoline NextGen Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, comes into the weekend tied for the points lead with Elliott Sadler. Stenhouse, who is going for his second straight series championship, spoke about what he needs to do to accomplish that goal.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT DEFENDING YOUR TITLE FROM LAST YEAR? “We feel good about it. We’ve got two practices down and we feel like we’ve got a fast race car. Our paint scheme looks cool and hopefully we can take them to victory lane because this is the first time they’re on the car this year. The guys did a great job during practice. They worked very hard and brought a fast race car. We’ve got our best stuff out here and we’re ready to go. I think we’ve got a car to beat tomorrow.”

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. led the way with a lap of 27.107 seconds in the final practice for the Great Clips 200 from Phoenix. Rounding out the top five was Austin Dillon, Kasey Kahne, Brad Keselowski, and Elliott Sadler.

Elliott Sadler was running 12th with two laps to go when he made contact with the No. 88 car of Cole Whitt. Sadler tapped Whitt’s car and then made contact with the wall. As his car came down off the wall it was hit by teammate Brendan Gaughan ripping the nose of the car off. Sadler entered the race tied for the points lead with Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Logano was dominant Saturday at Phoenix, but was under pressure late from Brian Vickers and Stenhouse. But as they closed in on the white flag for what should have been the final lap, Sadler imploded.
