Qualifying at Martinsville Speedway for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is complete. The Richard Petty Motorsports teams will line up for the start of the 263-mile event as follows: 10th— Aric Almirola, No. 43 Gwaltney Ford Fusion 33rd— Marcos Ambrose, No. 9 Black & Decker Ford Fusion Forty-five cars took to the half-mile oval for qualifying today. Jimmie Johnson topped the speed chart with a lap of 97.598 miles per hour and will start on the pole Sunday at Martinsville. Matt Kenseth was the top qualifying Ford as the sixth fastest in the field. The 500-lap NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event begins Sunday, Oct. 28, at 1:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN, MRN Radio and SIRIUS/XM NASCAR Radio. Ambrose’s Thoughts on Qualifying at Martinsville: “We just didn’t have much that lap. We were a little tight in the middle and loose off the corners. We had a decent practice and we’ve got two sessions tomorrow to be able to work on our Black & Decker Ford. I know my guys will do their best tomorrow to give me a fast car and I’m optimistic about our chances on Sunday.” Almirola’s Thoughts on Qualifying at Martinsville: “I don’t know if we thought it was going to hold up like it did.  We have been fighting the car a bit all day, but Todd and the guys worked really hard. This Gwaltney Ford ended up pretty fast in qualifying. Any time you start in the top 10 it really helps, especially at a track where it’s tough to pass.”
