It seems like such a distant memory that Brian Vickers catapulted the Red Bull Racing team to a Chase Berth. It was three years ago. This season the Chase has nearly come and gone, and Vickers didn’t even have a shot to be in the running for the championship, as he doesn’t have a full-time ride.
It doesn’t seem fair, but rarely is life fair. In 2010 while trying to defend his Chase berth, Vickers was diagnosed with blood clots in his legs and lungs. He would be sidelined for the remainder of the season. When he came back his team was on the verge of collapse and was a shell of it’s former self. By year’s end Red Bull Racing would close it’s doors. Vickers was left without a full-time Sprint Cup Series ride.
That fact however hasn’t stopped the 29-year old driver from having a magical season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
