Kenseth fitting in fine at JGR camp

Joe Gibbs Racing brings a new mix to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this season, adding veteran Matt Kenseth to the lineup of Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin. Ever since the move was announced, people have been predicting that the addition of Kenseth would change the team. They didn't see this coming, though. Kenseth, the 2003 Sprint Cup champion, is known for his consistent performances and annual runs for the title. For those who follow him on Twitter or listen to him week to week, he's also known for his dry wit. At the Joe Gibbs Racing shop on Thursday, he showed that he can spice things up among his rowdier young teammates. As Busch was going over details of his new contract extension, and joking that he had bankrupted team owner Joe Gibbs, the gamesmanship began. "We already gave him all the best stuff," Busch said of Kenseth. "He was the fastest Toyota car down at the Daytona test. What else we got to do?" "That was part of my deal. Kyle might have got all the money, but I got all the good stuff," Kenseth replied. Oh yeah? "That's all right, I make up for it in talent." Busch responded. But they weren't done. Hamlin piped in that he had coached Kenseth on that opening Daytona International Speedway test run, trying to buoy his spirits in case things didn't go well. "Don't be discouraged about our speedway program," Hamlin said. "It's not very good." Obviously, Kenseth disputed that notion. As the trio appeared to settle down, new Nationwide Series driver Brian Vickers fanned the flames once more. Looking at Kenseth, he asked, "Didn't you win a championship already?" Busch wasn't about to let that go, either. "That was a long time ago," he quipped.
