The starting lineup for Saturday night’s Sprint Unlimited was chosen by fans and based off of the order of pole positions earned during the 2012 season. As Logano earned a pole at the June Pocono event, he started the race in the ninth position.
In the first segment of the race, Logano ran as high as seventh and as low as 17th. He avoided a multi-car accident just 15 laps into the event and was able to come down pit road to make changes to the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford.
Logano finished the first 30-lap segment in the 10th position. During the pit stop between segments, crew chief Todd Gordon called for four tires, fuel and wedge adjustments on the Shell-Pennzoil machine.
In segment two, Logano raced his way into the third position, where he would stay for most of the 25-lap run.
