JEFF GORDON: “Half the battle and goal of this race is to learn something for next week’s Duel and the 500. The car was definitely, as far back as I was, they become a handful a couple laps before that. But handling wasn’t an issue. We had good handling. We need a little more speed, so we’ll work on that. But I can’t tell if guys are just getting out of control or if they’re getting hit or what’s going on. But several guys started shuffling back to the back and right there I saw somebody loose on the inside and the outside lane somehow was affected by it and it was a domino by the time it got back to me and we were in it.
CAN YOU TELL US YOUR VERSION OF THAT AND WHAT WERE YOU FEELING OUT THERE?
“I couldn’t see much. We were in that bottom lane that just got shuffled back early and so we were just slowly working our way back up there. I saw handling started to become an issue for quite a few guys, a little bit for myself, but not too bad. I just saw somebody get sideways going dow...

Danica Patrick says when she told Tony Stewart that she was dating fellow NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Stewart naturally had to prank him.
"I was like, "Hey, I have a boyfriend," and he's like, "I know,' " Patrick told USA TODAY Sports with a laugh. "That was an easy conversation.
Danica Patrick made history today behind the wheel of the No. 10 GODADDY Chevrolet SS by winning the pole for the 55th running of the Daytona 500. Four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) champion Jeff Gordon powered the No. 24 Drive To End Hunger Chevrolet SS to second in the final order giving the all-new Chevrolet SS the front row for the Great American Race set for Sunday, February...
Thematically, the message was abundantly clear, as Chevrolet unveiled the production version of its new high-performance SS model to a throng of fans and media Saturday at Daytona International Speedway.
"NASCAR and the car manufacturers for years have been talking about the need to visually put the 'stock' back in stock car racing," said Mark Reuss, president...
Jeff Gordon found consolation, albeit facetiously, in running second to Danica Patrick in Sunday's time trials at Daytona.
Gordon characterized himself as "the fastest guy," and in at least one respect, he was content with his effort. Patrick, after all, had just become the first female driver to win a pole at NASCAR's highest level.
"I'm glad I didn'...
“Everybody… LET me hear ya…. A one, A two, A three…. ” It doesn’t matter if it’s Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Gordon, or even Da Coach who is in the booth at Wrigley in between the top and bottom of the 7th inning, I don’t hear them as Gary Pressy hits those chords on the organ at Wrigley. I hear Harry. I hear Harry as loud as I did when I was a kid, even though it has...
The 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season will kickoff Sunday at the Daytona 500, the biggest race of the season. How important is a good finish in the Great American Race to a driver’s season?
